Panama City, Panama - A three-person team from the Nature, Climate and Energy cluster of the UNDP Multi-Country Office for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean has joined representatives from 33 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean for the Euroclima 2026 Annual Meeting on 24 - 26 March. The high‑level platform aims to strengthen bi‑regional dialogue on climate action and environmental cooperation. As an implementing agency for the Euroclima programme in the Caribbean, UNDP is partnering with the European Union and national governments to identify areas for technical assistance and support enabling actions.
The meeting is organized by the Government of Panama, through its Ministry of Environment, together with the European Union through the Directorate‑General for International Partnerships and the Delegation of the European Union in Panama, in line with the Global Gateway Investment Agenda. The opening ceremony on 24 March brought together government authorities, international organizations, cooperation agencies, financial institutions, and European and regional delegations. Participants include representatives of the European Commission, ambassadors of EU Member States, and technical teams linked to the programme.
The UNDP Barbados and Eastern Caribbean team is leveraging its strong country engagement and regional networks to help connect shared priorities between the Caribbean and the European Union, technical cooperation and investment opportunities related to a green and just transition. Through this dialogue, UNDP is identifying approaches in circular economy, energy transition, and climate finance mobilisation that can be adapted and scaled to accelerate country-led climate action in the Caribbean. The in‑person forum provides an opportunity to strengthen relationships with EU focal points, fellow Implementing Agencies - including UN sister agencies - and country partners, while sharing practical lessons from across Latin America and the Caribbean.
