Results of implementation of energy-efficient solutions in 8 pilot buildings
The joint project Promoting Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings in Uzbekistan, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the State Committee for Architecture and Construction of Uzbekistan (Gosarchitectstroy), focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the building sector of Uzbekistan.
The report provides details of each pilot site, including the cost of GEF-funded energy efficiency activities, which averaged 17 per cent of total construction and renovation cost, comparable to indicators in European and CIS countries. The report also highlights the use of multi-layer outer walls as the most energy-efficient technical solution and identifies knowledge gained and best practices identified from these pilot projects that can help define a path for subsequent replication in similar standard buildings nationwide.
