Artificial intelligence is increasingly being integrated into the economy, while regulatory sandboxes are emerging as a key tool for testing AI solutions in a controlled and secure environment. Despite growing international interest, approaches to designing and implementing AI sandboxes require adaptation to national legal, economic, and technological contexts.

The publication explores the potential of AI sandboxes in Uzbekistan as a mechanism to support innovation, enhance regulatory clarity, and promote the responsible adoption of AI, including by micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). It provides an overview of international experiences, the current national context, and potential areas for piloting AI sandboxes.

Based on analytical research, surveys, and consultations with local stakeholders, the document proposes a practical framework and recommendations for initiating AI sandboxes at the national level.
