Government of Nepal, Ministry of Population and Environment and Department of Hydrology and Meteorology have opted several measures to minimize the risk involved with Imja Glacial Lake outburst. Among these measures are decreasing the water level in the lake by 3 meters, early warning system to update about the potential burst to communities living downstream and increase social awareness on possible future outburst. This booklet mainly discusses the causes behind the glacial lake outburst. Together with this, it also incorporates solutions to minimize the risk involved with the outburst.
