Political area is one of the important platforms to establish the presence and access of women at the policy level. National Women Commission has been organizing different activities and initiatives to promote participation and empowerment of women. In the local election 135,409 people gave their candidacy for 35,221 posts. Among them, 55,719 were women, out of which 14,466 women won in various positions. This report is based on the election monitoring led by NWC which evaluates the participation and access of women, women with disability, women from marginalized and backward community among others during the local election. UNDP supported NWC for the  preparation and publication of this report.
