Stephanie Ziebell, Deputy Resident Representative for UNDP Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean

Ms. Stephanie Ziebell has been appointed Deputy Resident Representative for the UNDP Multi-Country Office for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, effective July 14, 2023.

Ms. Ziebell previously served as Deputy Resident Representative, a.i. in Guyana from October 2022 to July 2023 and in Haiti from 2019 to 2022. Ms. Ziebell has worked for the United Nations since 2005 and with UNDP since 2015, where she has managed a programme portfolio covering the areas of poverty reduction and inclusive growth, climate and disaster resilience, crisis management, governance, security and rule of law. 

Before joining UNDP, she worked with the Department of Peacekeeping Operations and UNIFEM (now UN Women), supporting and working on several global programmes focusing primarily on community-based development, governance issues including social cohesion and women’s participation in peacebuilding, with extensive fieldwork in Uganda. She served as Head of Governance and Rule of Law and the Head of the Management Support Unit for UNDP Haiti. 

 

She holds a Master's degree in International Affairs from Rutgers University and a Bachelor's degree from Macalester College. Originally from the United States, she speaks English, French, Spanish and Haitian Creole. She is married and has a young son.
