Turning Energy into Action: Fergana’s Youth Hub Takes Off

October 31, 2025, Fergana, Uzbekistan – Today the new youth hub in Tashlak district of Fergana Region has officially opened, offering a dynamic space for young people to develop IT skills, access resources, and engage in community-driven initiatives. The Hub is part of a broader youth empowerment project implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and funded by the Government of Japan.
The initiative is supported by national key partners including the Khokimyat of Fergana, Youth Affairs Agency of Uzbekistan, Digital Technology Centre in the region. The opening ceremony was welcomed by distinguished guests – Mr Sherzodjon Polvonov, Deputy Governor of Fergana Region; Ms Akiko Fujii, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan.
With nearly 60% of Uzbekistan’s population under the age of 30, the country holds one of the youngest demographics in Central Asia. The Youth Hub responds to this opportunity by equipping young people with the tools to become active contributors to the economy and society. Through training, mentorship, and access to digital technologies, the Hub aims to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement among youth.
The hub also includes capacity-building workshops, free legal aid and mental health and psychosocial support for the vulnerable stratum of the society. Trainers and facilitators from local and international organizations will contribute to the Hub’s programming, ensuring a diverse and impactful learning environment.
