July 7, 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through the project “Strengthening Rule of Law and Human Rights Protection in Uzbekistan” funded by the Government of Finland, has announced the results of the 2026 Low Value Grants (LVG) Programme.
The call for proposals, held in March–April 2026, attracted strong interest from civil society organizations across Uzbekistan. A total of 57 non-governmental non-profit organizations (NNOs) submitted project proposals aimed at expanding access to legal services and strengthening legal awareness among socially vulnerable groups. Following an independent evaluation process, five organizations were selected to receive grants.
Through the 2026 LVG Programme, nearly USD 100,000 has been allocated to support civil society initiatives that strengthen access to justice, improve legal awareness, and promote the protection of human rights for vulnerable populations across the country.
The selected organizations are:
- NNO “Madad” (Tashkent);
- NNO “Sharoit Plus” (Tashkent);
- Association of Persons with Disabilities of Karakalpakstan;
- NNO “Rahmdillik” (Samarkand Region);
- Uzbekistan Lawyers Association
The supported projects will focus on providing free primary legal aid, legal consultations, legal literacy campaigns, accessible information materials, digital legal support services, and community outreach activities targeting women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other socially vulnerable groups.
Collectively, the initiatives are expected to:
- Improve access to free legal assistance for thousands of citizens;
- Strengthen legal awareness and understanding of rights and available remedies;
- Expand access to justice for women, youth, persons with disabilities, and residents of remote communities;
- Increase the availability of inclusive and accessible legal information;
- Enhance community-level mechanisms for protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms.
The selected projects will be implemented across several regions of Uzbekistan, including the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Samarkand, Navoi, Ferghana, Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya and other areas where access to legal services remains limited.
UNDP congratulates the selected organizations and looks forward to working together with civil society partners to strengthen the rule of law, expand access to justice, and advance the protection of human rights across Uzbekistan.
