The untreated medical waste generated by the hospitals posed the risk of mixing with municipal wastes and thereby contaminating the entire municipal waste resulting in increased health hazards to the people.

UNDP has been implementing Leaving No-One Behind – Green, Resilient and Inclusive COVID-10 Recovery (LNOB-GRIC) project since September 2022 under financing from Japan Supplementary Budget (Government of Japan). This project exclusively extends supports for three areas: a) Healthcare waste management in 6 district hospitals b) Municipal waste management in 4 municipalities, and c) Agroforestry in 2 municipalities.
