April 5, 2023

The inaugural Project Steering Committee Meeting for Implementing Sustainable Low and Non-Chemical Development in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) was conducted on 23rd of February with the key stakeholders of the project. The meeting focused on discussions to strengthen stakeholder relationships and endorse the action plan of the project.

The project is aimed at addressing the unique challenges faced by SIDS, where they are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation due to their size, remoteness, and limited resources. With the support from the Global Environment Facility, the project aims to implement sustainable low and non-chemical solutions in various sectors in the Maldives.

The partners engaged in comprehensive discussions, identifying opportunity areas and priorities, and exploring potential collaboration areas to ensure the successful achievement of the project's objectives and plans.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and the need for collective action to achieve sustainable development in SIDS.
