UNDP's mandate is to end poverty, promote democratic governance, the rule of law, and inclusive institutions. We advocate for change and connect countries to knowledge, experience, and resources to help people build a better life.
To fulfill its mandate, UNDP relies entirely on voluntary contributions from UN Member States, multilateral organizations, the private sector, and other sources, in the form of unrestricted regular resources (core) and contributions earmarked for a specific theme, program, or project.
Partnership is at the heart of everything UNDP does. We offer an almost universal presence. Our substantial knowledge—both intellectual insight and practical experience—spans diverse development issues and contexts. These valuable assets, combined with our long legacy of trust, have made us a global partner of choice.
Learn about the pillars of UNDP action around the world, in line with current development challenges and different contexts.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, promote gender equality, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
