Green Champions Programme 2026 - Call for Applications

The Green Champions Programme is designed for school students aged 14–17 and teachers from Khobi and Poti municipalities, to become leaders of green change in their schools and communities. The programme is implemented with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Denmark under the Greening The Future project and aims to increase knowledge and interest among youth and teachers on environmental and climate-related topics.
What Does the Programme Include?
- A 1-day training for teachers on green transition and mentoring topics.
- A 3-day camp for pupils covering the following topics: climate change, circular economy, nature-based solutions, energy efficiency, sustainable resource management, sustainable agriculture, civic engagement and effective communication.
- A joint session for pupils and teachers within the 3-day camp to plan collaborative green initiatives/demonstrators.
- Online mentoring after the camp to refine the developed initiatives/demonstrators.
- A small initiatives contest for pupils, within which winning teams, mentored by their teacher(s), will implement green initiatives in their school and/or community.
- A public event where winning teams will present the results of their initiatives.
Who Can Participate?
Pupils who:
- Are aged 14–17 from Poti or Khobi municipalities;
- Are motivated, active and interested in environmental issues and sustainable development;
- Are ready to actively participate in all stages of the programme (camp, online meetings, implementation of green initiatives, public event).
Teachers who:
- Teach at a school in Poti or Khobi municipality;
- Are interested in and/or teach natural sciences, environmental, sustainable development or civic education topics and wish to deepen their knowledge on green transition issues;
- Are interested in providing administrative support and mentoring to pupils during the implementation of a green initiative/demonstrator in their school/community.

Please note that for a teacher's application to be considered, it is important that pupil(s) from the same school have also submitted their application(s) through the pupil application form. This condition is important to ensure that the teacher can support and mentor pupils during the implementation of their green initiative/demonstrator throughout the programme.
In both cases, the application deadline is 24 April 2026.
