EU, UNDP, and OHCHR invite legal practitioners to strengthen expertise in international human rights litigation
Training on effective realisation of international human rights instruments
October 15, 2026
As part of the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) joint initiative ‘Human Rights for All’, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) invite individual legal practitioners to apply for a two-day training on the practical use of international human rights protection mechanisms.
The training will take place on 7-8 November 2026.
About the training
The training aims to strengthen the knowledge and practical skills of legal practitioners in using international human rights mechanisms and strategic litigation. It will focus on litigation before the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), with particular attention to:
- procedures and admissibility requirements for individual applications;
- practical aspects of preparing applications; and
- strategic considerations in using international mechanisms.
The training will combine theoretical guidance with practical exercises and discussion of relevant cases and litigation experience.
Who can apply?
The call is primarily intended for individual legal practitioners practising at the national level, who are interested in strengthening their capacity to use international human rights mechanisms in their legal practice.
Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate relevant professional experience, a strong motivation and demonstrated interest in pursuing cases before international human rights mechanisms and previous litigation experience.
How to apply?
Interested candidates are invited to complete the registration form and submit a CV and a motivation letter (maximum 300 words). The motivation letter should explain their interest in the training, any relevant experience with human rights litigation, and how they intend to apply the knowledge and skills gained.
Participants will be selected based on their professional experience, motivation, and previous litigation experience or demonstrated interest in international human rights mechanisms.
Application deadline: 26 October 2026
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate of participation.
The organizers will fully cover participants’ transportation and accommodation costs. Training will be conducted outside Tbilisi. The exact location will be communicated to selected participants.
