December 28, 2020

The second edition of the EnGenDER newsletter has been published under the theme, Unravelling Gender Inequalities across the Caribbean.  In this December issue of the newsletter, the EnGenDER project examines more deeply gender inequalities within the Caribbean region within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Unravelling and shedding light on the impact that the spread of the coronavirus is having on exacerbating gender inequalities and how the EnGenDER project has been proactive in pivoting its project resources to assist its country beneficiaries. This edition of the newsletter also brings the shadow pandemic of Gender Based Violence (GBV) into the spotlight and highlighting the work being undertaken by the local gender machineries as well as civil society in countries such  as Dominica, Jamaica, Suriname and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in helping to address this issue.

Other notable features include submissions by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the World Bank more specifically, the Canada Caribbean Resilience Facility and the work being undertaken by both agencies in strategically integrating gender within the disaster risk reduction framework to support more effective and informed disaster recovery efforts across the Caribbean region. This and so much more to read in the second edition of the EnGenDER newsletter.
