UNDP, through the GEF‑funded Global Biodiversity Framework – Early Action Support (GBF‑EAS) Project, hosted Biodiversity and Biofinance Stakeholder Information and Training Workshops in St. Kitts and Nevis to strengthen national capacity and stakeholder engagement for the effective implementation of biodiversity commitments.

Held on 18 and 22 November 2025 at the Mount Nevis Hotel in Nevis and Kittitian Hill Resort in St. Kitts, the workshops brought together representatives from Government, the private sector, and civil society for hands‑on, interactive learning and collaboration.

Participants deepened their understanding of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and its relevance for St. Kitts and Nevis, while exploring biodiversity finance concepts and innovative approaches to mobilizing resources for conservation and sustainable practices. Discussions also examined practical challenges and opportunities for both public and private sector investment in biodiversity protection.

For Small Island Developing States like St. Kitts and Nevis, protecting natural ecosystems is essential to sustaining livelihoods, food security, tourism, and resilience to climate change. The workshops underscored that biodiversity conservation is a shared responsibility, requiring coordinated action across sectors. By providing a platform for dialogue, learning, and partnership‑building, these engagements supported national efforts to translate global biodiversity commitments into tangible, country‑driven action.
