Environment and Sustainable Development

Caring for and protecting the environment to achieve a more sustainable present and future

Nature and environmental protection play a fundamental role in human development and social well-being, creating new and better opportunities, as well as providing an ideal setting for people to access sustainable incomes and livelihoods through the proper use and management of natural resources.

The Anthropocene calls on us to act toward positive transformational change. With this goal in mind, UNDP works alongside governments, various sectors of society, and youth to develop strategies and public policies to address the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, pollution, and inequality, within the framework of a just and sustainable transition.

Sustainable Environment in Argentina

UNDP works on nationwide programmes, with management experience at the national, provincial, and municipal levels, in collaboration with other United Nations System agencies on the mission to leave no one behind, supporting the implementation and achievement of the 2030 Agenda. With this goal, it contributes to the achievement of the SDGs in areas such as biodiversity, climate change, disaster risk reduction and management, energy, and the monitoring and control of environmental pollution.
