Education Scholarships for Afghan Citizens in Uzbekistan

Dear applicant,

The European Union (EU)-United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are announcing a scholarship to study Technical Vocational Education and Training programme (TVET) and Short-term courses on basic professions in the framework of the “Enhancing the capacities of Surkhandarya region to educate and train Afghan citizens” Project.

This scholarship is funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP.

What is the duration of the scholarship?

April – December 2022 for TVET Programme

Field of study: construction, agribusiness, textile, tourism and IT.

Language of study: Uzbek, Russian or English.

One term is theory based; the second term involves practical work experience.

Up to 3-months for Short-term courses including one month of exclusively practical classes

Field of study: construction, crane operators, welders, IT specialists, service and consumer services workers, transport and car repair workers, seamstresses and footwear workers, cookers, carpet weaving and embroidery (handicraft), etc.

Language of study: Uzbek, Russian or English.

Who can apply

The Afghan citizens, especially youth and women currently residing in Uzbekistan may apply for the scholarship.

What does the scholarship cover?

The scholarship covers Tuition fee, Accommodation, Travel and Monthly stipends.

The rest of the expenditures associated with possible dependents, including children, are not covered by the scholarship

Stages of competitive selection

1-stage

Application submission by deadline of 20 April, 2022, 15:00 p.m. Tashkent time (GMT+5)

(Please read the “List of required documents” section carefully. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited to the next stage, the Written test.

2-stage

Written test

The format and date will be announced soon. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited to the final stage, the Interview.

3-stage

Interview with an Evaluation Panel

Venue and date will be announced soon.

List of required documents*:

Copy of passport and/or local Afghan identification card;

Application form (please download. All fields are mandatory);

Brief motivation letter

Graduation certificates, as follows:

· Certificate of completion of 12-year (high) school with grades in subjects;

· Certificates and diplomas of Afghanistan (if available)

* The list of required documents may differ according to the programme scheme. All documents must be in Uzbek, Russian or English language.

Documents need to be carefully scanned and sent to the bobur.jurakhujaev@undp.org by 20 April, 2022, 15:00 p.m. Tashkent time (GMT+5) with applicant name and surname in one of abovementioned languages in the subject section of the email. Poorly scanned or incorrectly sent documents or partially missing documents will not be accepted.

Only applications submitted by the deadline will be considered.
