A two-day workshop is helping build national capacity to develop green investment project pipelines and unlock climate finance in the Maldives.

Held on 2 February 2026, the workshop brought together stakeholders from the public and private sectors to explore how stronger project design can help the Maldives access and mobilize climate finance more effectively.

The first day focused on the public sector, with discussions on the evolving climate finance landscape, project preparation for global climate funds, and practical tools for developing bankable, impact-oriented climate projects. The sessions highlighted the importance of building well-designed project pipelines that can turn climate priorities into investable action.

Led by the Ministry of Finance, in cooperation with UNDP Maldives, and with technical support from Deloitte, the workshop forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the country’s capacity to finance climate action. The initiative is supported through the Integrated National Financing Facility.
