7th Project Steering Committee meeting (POPs)

The 7th Project Steering Committee meeting of the Eliminating Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) through Sound Management of Chemicals Project was held today. The meeting brought together partner ministries and institutions to review progress and discuss upcoming priorities.

The Committee reviewed the implementation status of ongoing activities and endorsed the 2026 Work Plan and Budget, marking an important step as the project moves into its final-year targets.

Discussions reinforced the value of collaboration across national stakeholders to strengthen policy, infrastructure, and capacity for the sound management of chemicals and hazardous waste in the Maldives.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, Ministry of Health, Maldives Food and Drug Authority, Maldives Customs Service, Maldives National Defence Force, Environmental Protection Agency, and UNDP Maldives.

UNDP remains committed to supporting national partners in advancing the effective and safe management of chemicals and hazardous waste in the country.
