UNDP Angola and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding today in Luanda, formalising a strategic partnership to advance sustainable development in Angola across key sectors.

The MoU was signed by Denise Antonio, UNDP Angola Resident Representative, and Jackie Chimhanzi, TBI Regional Director for Southern Africa.

This partnership builds on a growing collaboration initiated in 2024 and reflects the alignment between UNDP’s programmatic priorities and TBI’s strategic focus areas. It aims to support inclusive governance, SDG-aligned investment, and institutional and digital transformation in Angola.

The MoU outlines cooperation in the following areas:
  • Promoting investment aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through joint policy advocacy and technical assistance to create an enabling investment environment;

  • Advancing digital transformation by supporting infrastructure expansion, digital literacy, and improved service delivery through technology;

  • Fostering innovation across public administration, private sector development, and social services to promote new solutions to development challenges;

  • Supporting sustainable agricultural development by strengthening value chains, improving market access, and enhancing food security and rural livelihoods.

  • Building institutional capacity through joint training, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives;

  • Mobilising resources and supporting the implementation of inclusive and sustainable development initiatives.

The partnership also aims to contribute to Angola’s economic diversification and institutional modernisation efforts, supporting evidence-based policymaking and digital solutions that prioritise vulnerable populations and underserved regions.

The signing of the MoU marks a new chapter in the collaboration between UNDP Angola and TBI, focused on delivering practical, innovative, and inclusive solutions to support Angola’s development goals.
