Today, certificates are presented at the Professional Training Center to young people aged 18-30 from Kungrad, Muynak and Bozatau districts who have been trained in the specialty "Electrician with access to work on electrical installations up to 1000V". The event is held within the framework of the Joint Programme of UNDP, UNFPA and FAO "Promoting the creative and innovative potential of youth and vulnerable populations by strengthening their adaptive capacity to solve problems of economic and food security in vulnerable communities of the Aral Sea region", funded by the United Nations Multi-Partner Trust Fund for Human Security for the Aral Sea Region in Uzbekistan.

The Joint Programme aims to assist in the organization of professional trainings in three pilot districts in the identified above-mentioned areas. This activity will allow:

  • strengthening the potential of rural youth (including girls and women) in the target areas by providing access to vocational education, as well as assistance in obtaining a specialty and qualification in technical areas;
  • promotion of professional mobility among young people through the organization of professional training;
  • providing employment for rural youth and material and technical support for their activities.

According to the results of the training among young people held in September-October of this year, 30 people participated in this stage of the training, divided by territorial basis into three groups of 10 people each. The training was conducted by teachers of the licensed training center "Mutaxassis Plyus" from Tashkent city. Following the results of the training sessions, the trainees who successfully passed the final exams received special certificates confirming the specialty and qualification they received. Training included practical classes to help young people master the theoretical part by applying it in practical assignments. The trainees showed great interest both in the training course in general and in the development of practical skills in particular, they highly appreciated the teacher's qualifications, the training materials provided and the process of organizing classes. “In the near future, I plan to purchase the necessary tools to provide services to the local population and businesses in terms of installing electrical networks and repairing household appliances, since at the moment no one in our area provides this kind of service”, says Elaman Dixanbaev, a participant of training course held by UNDP in September-October 2022.

UNDP supports and promotes youth employment by helping to implement a number of initiatives on the labour market, especially among college and university graduates, young women, returning migrant workers and vulnerable groups.
