More than 250 companies have used the Digital Pulse diagnostic tool
October 26, 2022
The first results of the joint initiative "DIGITAL PULSE", implemented by the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the UN Development Program, in partnership with the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan and IT Park were presented on October 24-27 in Samarkand at the ICTWEEK UZBEKISTAN 2022.
This tool has already helped to diagnose the level of digitalization of business processes in more than 250 companies, the results of these diagnostics have formed the basis of individual strategies for the digital transformation of small businesses, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the enterprise, as well as the potential for further development. "DIGITAL PULSE" allows an analysis of all companies that have undergone diagnostics. Thus, the analysis showed that 34 percent of the companies that underwent diagnostics had female CEOs, and 40 percent of the companies had CEOs under the age of 35. The level of digitalization is quite low, averaging 11 percent.
To address this issue, the UNDP project plans to implement a system of diagnostics of the level of development of digital competencies of the country's citizens based on the DigCom competency framework. It is important to note that digital competencies are defined as key concomitant competencies that imply the ability to use digital technologies critically, coherently and creatively. These measures also help to improve the digital readiness of businesses.
Going back to the first data we received, let's talk more about this tool. For companies looking to digitize, knowing where to start starts with understanding where they are today.
DIGITAL PULSE is a tool that helps small and medium-sized businesses determine their level of digitalization and provides key recommendations on what needs to be done on the road to digital transformation. The tool also helps companies assess their digital potential and identify related gaps in their operations, and UNDP and its institutional partners will be informed about what further policy measures need to be developed to support the acceleration of digital economy activities in the country.
This tool meets the needs of businesses for a free assessment and to receive an automatic analysis that the company receives after undergoing diagnostics, as well as providing basic recommendations on areas for improvement. The tool is useful for any company, large or small, service- or product-oriented.
The program has developed an online platform, http://digitalpulse.uz/, which allows companies to conduct a self-assessment of their digital activities. The questionnaire asks users to answer a series of multiple-choice questions about their enterprise in selected areas and sometimes argues for their choices. The questions are compiled according to six key business areas, as digital communication, digital customer relations, personnel and digital innovation, information and IT security, company management with digital tools, and digital production and service delivery.
Based on the answers provided, companies will receive an automatic assessment of their digital profile in the form of a radar chart with the percentage of digitalization in the relevant areas and recommendations for immediate action. This will help diagnose the level of digitalization of business processes in companies and motivate the development of new business ideas and approaches.
The tool is data-driven because the way it evaluates a company and makes recommendations depends entirely on the answers provided by users. The evaluation questions were designed not only to guide companies along the path of digitalization but also to inspire them with new ideas and approaches.
And what's more important, you can use the services of this tool for free.
The initiative "DIGITAL PULSE" is implemented as part of the "Youth Digital Skills" - a joint program of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications Development, IT Park and the United Nations Development Programme under the project "Enhancing youth opportunities for the development of the digital economy and digital entrepreneurship.
