State of Environment report - Gandaki province

June 2, 2026

The State of Environment Report, prepared by the Gandaki Province Policy and Planning Commission with support from UNDP Nepal,  provides a comprehensive assessment of the province’s environmental status, trends, challenges, and opportunities. Using a DPSIR (Drivers–Pressures–State–Impact–Response) framework, the report examines key sectors including air quality, land use, agriculture, forests and biodiversity, climate change, energy, urban environments, waste management, and water resources.

It highlights emerging pressures from urbanization, infrastructure development, migration, tourism, and climate change, while offering evidence-based recommendations to strengthen environmental governance, inform policy and planning, and support sustainable, climate-resilient development across Gandaki Province.
