Enhancing the capacity of women parliamentarians

With an objective to enhance the effectiveness of parliamentary roles of women parliamentarian and reflect upon their roles in the parliament, an orientation was conducted at Dhulikhel of Kavre district in Province 3. The orientation aimed to unleash the women's parliamentarians' potential in parliamentary affairs, and understand the practices of power and value of positivity for effective leadership.

With expert facilitators the orientation offered a unique opportunity to reflect upon the 'self', achievements and discussions revolving around the parliamentarians' role in parliament.

Women parliamentarians who attended the orientation said that the orientation was very fruitful to them to have positive attitudes and thinking so that they can apply the knowledge and skills learned in the orientation in the parliamentary proceedings. Provincial Assembly member Mina Gyawali said that the session had informed and encouraged to focus and study on parliamentary affairs and minutely analyze the bills before being endorsed.

A total of 23 women parliamentarians from Province 3, including three male parliamentarians participated in the workshop. Province 3. The two-day orientation was organized by Secretariat of Province 3 with support from Parliament Support project/UNDP.
