Call for Applications:Funding of CSO Representative Participation to the Asia-Pacific Beijing+25 Regional CSO Forum in Bangkok

The UN Country Team will support the participation of representatives of Nepali Civil Society at the Asia-Pacific Beijing+25 Regional CSO Forum in Bangkok, Thailand (24-26 November 2019)

The 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA) will be celebrated in 2020. This is a pivotal moment to review State action to implement the BPfA. It also provides an opportunity for feminist movements to analyze the political, economic and social landscape and consider ways to advance women’s human rights in the current era.  The Beijing+25 review process begins in 2019 and will culminate in a global review at the 64th Session of the Commission of the Status of Women (CSW) in March 2020.

In the Asia-Pacific region, the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and UN Women’s Regional Office for Asia Pacific will facilitate the regional review process. The Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Beijing+25 Review  will take place between 27 and 29 November 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Before the intergovernmental meeting, the CSO Forum will be held in 24-26 November 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. We highly encourage registration of Nepali CSOs to this CSO Forum. [1]

The UN Country Team (UNCT) in Nepal will coordinate and facilitate the participation of Nepali Civil Society representatives at the Asia-Pacific Beijing+25 Regional CSO Forum in Bangkok for a maximum of 4 days. UNCT Nepal invites applications from interested candidates representing Civil Society Organizations in Nepal.

The UNCT aims to fund a combination of young (18-30 years) and a senior CSO Representatives in an effort to support the next generation of gender equality and women’s rights advocates. Participants funded by the UNCT will be expected to participate in a series of briefings and learning sessions prior to the NGO Forum and provide updates from the Forum. Those representatives who have previously participated in inter-governmental processes or global CSO for a will be expected to provide peer-support to younger activists as needed.

The selection of candidates will be based on their active engagement in gender equality and women’s empowerment work/movement. We especially encourage applications from civil society representatives from diverse backgrounds from all seven provinces of Nepal.

To apply for support to attend, applicants are expected to submit an updated resume (not exceeding 3 pages) and a short motivational essay (maximum 500 words), in English, telling us how you plan to use the opportunity and continue your advocacy on the Beijing Platform for Action throughout 2020 and beyond.

Persons affiliated with organisations who are currently receiving funding from UN Agencies for Beijing +25 processes will not be eligible for funding from this call.
