The UN Country Team will support the participation of representatives of Nepali Civil Society in the 67th   Session of the Commission on the Status of Women, organized at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 6-17 March 2023.

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. A functional commission of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) was established by Council resolution 11(II) of 21 June 1946.

The 67th Session of the CSW will be organized at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York from 6-17 March 2023. Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world are welcome to attend the session.

This year, the priority and review themes of the 67th CSW (2023) are as follows:

  • Priority theme: Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls
  • Review theme: Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls (agreed conclusions of the sixty-second session)

The twelve-day session will include a ministerial segment with round tables and other high-level interactive dialogues, a general discussion and a series of interactive events. Stakeholders will organize many side events to draw attention to critical aspects of the work on gender equality. Details are available at: https://www.unwomen.org/en/csw/csw67-2023
