The study examines the way in which public authorities enforce the provisions related to corruption proofing expertise in 2016-2018 - a corruption prevention tool, which assesses to what extent the content of legislative and normative drafts comply with national and international standards. The authors of the study found that many normative acts or draft laws adopted in the period 2016-2018 contain provisions that promote private interests to the detriment of the public interest. At the same time, contrary to the legislation in force, some official documents are adopted in the absence of corruption proofing expertise or ignoring the recommendations of the National Anticorruption Center to exclude provisions that may generate corruption. The costs of non-compliance with corruption proofing reports amount to millions of lei. In the period 2016-2018, the National Anticorruption Center carried out the corruption proofing expertise of 2697 draft normative acts, the largest share belonging to the draft government decisions and departmental acts.
