CSO Grantees for Voter Education and Governance

UNDP Maldives

On 11 December 2025, UNDP Maldives, with support from the Government of Australia, announced the selection of three civil society organisations to implement voter education and governance awareness initiatives from 2025 to 2026.

The initiative aims to strengthen democratic participation, promote inclusive civic values, and encourage informed and active citizen engagement across the Maldives. Targeted activities will focus on young people and persons with disabilities, supporting broader access to voter education and governance-related information.

The selected civil society organisations bring extensive experience working with communities across the country:

  • Maldives Local Councils Association will expand accessible voter education and community outreach initiatives.

  • Transparency Maldives will support civic engagement through voter education and governance awareness activities.

  • Women & Democracy will lead digital voter awareness efforts and community dialogues, with a focus on amplifying women’s and youth voices.

Working closely with CSO partners, the initiative contributes to strengthening democratic processes and fostering inclusive participation, ensuring communities are better informed and engaged in governance and electoral processes.
