UNDP Maldives and China Reaffirm Cooperation to Strengthen Resilience

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Maldives and the People’s Republic of China have reaffirmed their continued cooperation, building on a strong partnership that has supported the Maldives across various areas of development from the COVID-19 response to climate resilience.

UNDP Maldives Resident Representative Mr. Adnan Cheema met with H.E. Mr. Kong Xianhua, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Maldives, to discuss ongoing collaboration and explore future areas of engagement through the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA).

The meeting underscored the importance of continued partnership between UNDP and China in advancing sustainable development in the Maldives. Through joint efforts, the partnership has contributed to strengthening national capacities and resilience in the face of emerging challenges.

UNDP Maldives and the Government of China remain committed to working together to support the Maldives’ development priorities and accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
