Representatives from the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy and UNDP Maldives sign Letters of Agreement to advance biodiversity planning, reporting and financing in the Maldives, with support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

Malé, Maldives — The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy (MoCCEE) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Maldives have signed Letters of Agreement to advance three important areas of biodiversity action in the Maldives, with funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

The partnership will support the updating and revision of the Maldives National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan, the preparation of the 7th National Report to the Convention on Biological Diversity, and the development of a Biodiversity Financing Plan.

Together, these initiatives will support stronger national biodiversity planning, reporting and financing, helping strengthen the Maldives’ efforts to protect and sustainably manage its natural heritage.

UNDP Maldives, through its biodiversity and development work, will support the Government in advancing these priorities and strengthening the systems needed to translate biodiversity commitments into action.
