Ministry of Social and Family Development

The Ministry of Social and Family Development, in collaboration with UNDP Maldives and with support from the European Union in the Maldives through the AIM Project, conducted an orientation programme on the Media Guideline on Reporting Gender-Based Violence and Domestic Violence on 7 December 2025.

The programme aimed to strengthen the capacity of media professionals in responsibly addressing and reporting cases of gender-based violence (GBV) and domestic violence (DV). By sensitizing journalists and media practitioners to the importance of ethical, survivor-centred reporting, the initiative supports national efforts to prevent GBV and DV and promote safer, more informed public communication.

This collaboration highlights the ongoing commitment of national institutions, UNDP, and the EU to strengthening protection systems and advancing gender equality in the Maldives.
