Judicial capacity programme concludes with focus on environmental and climate justice
February 7, 2026
A two-day Judicial Capacity Development Programme on the Environment of Maldives has concluded, bringing together 21 judges from the High Court, Civil Court and Magistrate Courts to strengthen judicial engagement on environmental and climate justice.
Held on 7 February 2026, the programme created space for reflection on both global and national environmental justice cases, while also encouraging regional exchange and learning. Sessions included discussions with justices from Bangladesh and Nepal, offering comparative perspectives and shared insights on environmental adjudication.
Supported by the Government of Sweden, the programme reflects the continued commitment of UNDP Maldives and the Judiciary of the Maldives to strengthen judicial capacity on environmental and climate justice in the Maldives.
