The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Maldives is collaborating with Urbanco to develop a localized livability index for Hulhumalé - a city focused on sustainable urban planning . The goal of this intervention is to build resilient and sustainable communities within Hulhumalé by rethinking policies, engaging diverse perspectives, and harnessing data for inclusive development.

Creating places that adapt to the rapidly changing world necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the factors that contribute to a convenient and pleasant urban living experience. The Hulhumalé livability index adopts a data-driven approach, providing decision-makers with valuable insights for informed choices.

By prioritizing sustainability, resiliency, and social equity, our aim is to address the complexities of building a city that thrives amidst global challenges. Through the integration of data and a systemic mindset, we strive to shape a future for Hulhumalé that is both environmentally conscious and socially inclusive.

UNDP Maldives and Urbanco are committed to examining five key pillars within the livability index. These pillars include social inclusivity, economic and environmental sustainability, good governance, and innovation. By focusing on these fundamental aspects, our goal is to enhance the livability of Hulhumalé for all age groups. Through careful analysis and consideration of these pillars, we pave the way for a more equitable, prosperous, and forward-thinking city.

Leveraging data, engaging diverse perspectives, and collaborating with the community, we aim to create a city that thrives amidst the challenges of a rapidly changing world. Together with Urbanco, we shahope to pe a brighter future for Hulhumalé, guided by the principles of sustainability, resiliency, and social equity.
