Gender equality is a cornerstone of sustainable development, social cohesion, and inclusive governance. The National Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic on Achieving Gender Equality until 2030 sets gender equality as a factor in the social, political, cultural and economic development of the country. The strategy prioritizes equal participation of women in governance at all decision-making levels across political, economic, and public spheres.

The National Strategy envisages five priority areas: women's economic empowerment, cultural policy and functional education, protection against gender discrimination and fair justice, women's political participation, and regulatory policy to ensure gender equality. Special attention is paid to creating conditions for women's active participation in the economic and political life of the country, as well as eliminating all forms of discrimination and violence.
