UN PRPD

Partnership on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Background

The United Nations Global Disability Fund (GDF) - formerly the Partnership on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities - is a global initiative supporting countries to implement their commitments as outlined in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through technical support and coordination, UNDP helps strengthen policies, institutions, and capacities to uphold the CRPD.

This GDF project focused on the development of a comprehensive situational analysis to better understand the challenges and opportunities facing persons with disabilities in Barbados. Working closely with Government, civil society, and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities, the analysis aimed to provide a comprehensive assessment of the country’s disability landscape, identifying progress and key challenges in CRPD implementation.

By promoting inclusive policymaking and stronger partnerships, UNDP is helping to ensure that persons with disabilities are fully considered in national development efforts, contributing to a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
