From November 3 to 7, a delegation from The Global Fund visited Angola to monitor progress on Global Fund support to the National Program under the GC7 funding cycle (2024–2027). The mission met with the Ministry of Health and partners in Luanda and conducted field visits to the provinces of Benguela and Bié.

Throughout the week, the team assessed the progress of essential infrastructure for the national health system, including the installation of PSA oxygen plants, medical incinerators, and the expansion of integrated sample transport, which are key initiatives for improving diagnosis, clinical safety, and service response capacity.

The mission also analysed programmatic progress in the areas of HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria, community service delivery, data quality, and the functioning of health information and logistics systems. Meetings with provincial authorities and health facilities identified progress, challenges, and priority actions to accelerate implementation.

The financial and supply chain component was also reviewed, ensuring the monitoring of GC7 and C19RM investments, as well as the commitment to national co-financing and the operationalisation of logistics infrastructure such as the Benguela regional warehouse.

The Global Fund support to the National Program, implemented with the support of UNDP, represents an investment of approximately USD 105 million, benefiting the provinces of Benguela, Cuanza Sul, and Bié and strengthening the national capacity to respond to the three diseases.
