Grassroots Telemedicine

November 16, 2021

“Doctor for Everyone” is telemedicine based on a digital platform with smartphone application to enhance medical examination and treatment at the grassroots level, and improve access to quality health services for people, especially people in mountainous, remote and isolated areas, ethnic minorities and people with disabilities. This system includes secure video call and video conference which i) connect health staff at commune health stations with local people to provide health information and remote consultation services; and ii) enable commune health staff to consult with their colleagues at the district and higher levels. This helps improve people’s access to high quality health information, diagnosis, and treatment, while saving time and costs for travel, especially in remote and mountainous areas; supporting the online exchange of information, professional discussion, and consultation during the COVID-19 pandemic; and reducing overcrowding in higher-level health facilities.
