Guidelines for the design of Green Urban Transport Corridors

Guidelines for the design of Green Urban Transport Corridors

November 3, 2025

This guideline contains proposals and recommendations based on the analysis and generalization of international and national experience in applying the methods that make up the GUTC concept.

The purpose of this guideline is to establish a visual and practice-oriented set of methodological and regulatory guidelines that will enable the broad implementation and institutionalization of Green Urban Transport Corridor (GUTC) design principles. The document is based on the experience gained from the pilot project implemented on Shota Rustaveli Street, in Tashkent city, which covered the design, construction, and commissioning phases.

Based on the implementation outcomes and lessons learned, the possibility of expanding the GUTC concept to other streets in the city will be considered.

The guideline is intended for professionals in urban planning, transport planning, and engineering design, as well as for representatives of national and municipal authorities involved in the development and implementation of integrated transport solutions. The main objective of the document is to contribute to the creation of convenient, safe, and environmentally sustainable urban mobility.

The guideline has been prepared in accordance with the applicable national norms and standards of the Republic of Uzbekistan. When applying it outside the country, it is recommended to consider the local regulatory requirements and standards.
