Young people and women from remote areas of Karakalpakstan study e-commerce and social media marketing

From September 25 to October 13, 2023, within the framework of a Joint program of UNDP, UNICEF and FAO, trainings on e-commerce and SMM (social media marketing) were held for 60 young people and women from 3 target districts of Kegeli, Karauzyak and Chimbay.

Increasing the potential of rural youth and women through vocational training is important for socio-economic development and reducing unemployment, poverty in the region. It is expected that the trainings will increase the knowledge on economics of young people and women, will become an incentive for the development of digital entrepreneurship, to build their potential and teamwork skills, social and entrepreneurial skills and the creation of an income-generating individual or family business.

UNDP provides assistance in improving the efficiency and introducing innovations in the agriculture of Karakalpakstan, promoting smart and digital communities with a favorable infrastructure for the empowerment of youth, women, as well as vulnerable groups of people, including people with disabilities, women-headed families, migrant workers, etc.

The trainings were organized within the framework of the joint programme of UNDP, UNICEF and FAO "Empowering youth towards a brighter future through green and innovative development of the Aral Sea region", funded by the UN Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea Region in Uzbekistan with the support of the Governments of Uzbekistan, Norway, the European Union, Finland, South Korea, Germany and the Alwaleed Philanthropies charity organization.
