The renewable energy sector in Bhutan are characterized by persistent gender and social disparities that influence participation, access to finance, technical training, and decision-making. Women—particularly rural women—youth, and persons with disabilities face structural and normative barriers including male-dominated sector perceptions, occupational stereotypes, limited collateral and credit access, low digital literacy, and mobility constraints. These barriers constrain entry into technical roles, entrepreneurship, and leadership positions within Renewable Energy Service Providers (RESPs), financial institutions, and public agencies.
