UNDP continues to contribute to the implementation of the country's anti-corruption policy

Bishkek, 28 July 2025 — On July 28, 2025, UNDP held a graduation ceremony in Bishkek for the master's programme “Effective Governance and Anti-Corruption.” The programme was implemented by the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic.

In 2025, 17 representatives from the prosecutor's office, state bodies, and local government bodies in Bishkek, as well as from the academic and civil sectors, underwent training. The programme was a unique educational platform aimed at training qualified specialists in public administration and anti-corruption policy.

Opening the event, Aigul Kalchakeeva, Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, noted the importance of institutional partnership and emphasized the importance of sustainable training of personnel capable of implementing effective management practices. 

Ms. Elizabeth Zentos, Deputy Chief of Mission, U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic, emphasized the importance of international solidarity in supporting national reforms aimed at combating corruption and strengthening the rule of law.

UNDP Resident Representative in Kyrgyz Republic Alexandra Solovieva, noted the strategic importance of the programme as a systemic measure to strengthen public administration:

"The successful completion of this programme is not only a new stage in the professional development of the participants, but also a contribution to the implementation of the State Anti-Corruption Strategy for 2025–2030, the National Development Programme until 2030, and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 16 — building effective, transparent, and accountable institutions that ensure justice, sustainability, and development."

The programme was implemented within UNDP project “Strengthening People-Centered Anti-Corruption and Accountability Efforts in the Kyrgyz Republic,” with financial support from INL.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of government agencies, international organizations, the academic community, and the civil sector.

UNDP will continue to support anti-corruption efforts the Kyrgyz Republic's —from digitalization and legal expertise to the promotion of open data and citizen-centered institutional reforms.
