Organized by the SPA project implemented by UNDP and USAID's Tourism project
Training for managers of protected areas
June 30, 2023
In the organization of the project "Sustainability of Protected Areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina" (SPA), which is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNDP) with the financial support of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and USAID’s project of support to the development of sustainable tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Tourism project), a two-day training for managers of protected areas in the Republika Srpska was held in Teslić, with a focus on their preparation for participation in grant programs in the field of nature protection and tourism development.
Representatives of development agencies, tourist organizations, the Chamber of Commerce, relevant ministries and institutions also participated in the training.
On that occasion, representatives of the RS Ministry of Trade and Tourism presented public calls for the allocation of grants for the development of tourism. Managers of protected areas presented their potential and exchanged ideas on the preparation of project proposals within this and other available sources of project financing.
The need to create joint, multidisciplinary ideas that will serve the purpose of protecting natural resources and developing a sustainable tourist offer of protected areas was highlighted.
The UNDP SPA and USAID Tourism projects will continue to provide support to competent institutions in creating a sustainable tourist offer of protected areas.
Training for managers of protected areas in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was organized in March this year.
