PROJECT SUMMARY

The EU Justice and Legal Empowerment Programme (EU JULE), implemented by UNDP and UNICEF, is designed to strengthen the rule of law through a more reliable, trusted and better accessed justice system, and specifically to increase access to justice for women, children and those groups which, according to dependable data, face the greatest obstacles in using the justice system to invoke their rights including ethnic minorities and poor people.

EU JULE Programme is a partnership between the EU and the Government of Viet Nam being jointly implemented by UN agencies and OXFAM, in collaboration with Ministry of Justice, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People Procuracy, the Ministry of Public Security, the Viet Nam Lawyers’ Association, the Viet Nam Bar Federation, and others.

OBJECTIVES

Strengthen the rule of law in Viet Nam through a more reliable, trusted and better accessed justice system.

EXPECTED RESULTS

  • Increased public awareness and understanding of rights and how to invoke those rights.
  • Increased access to legal advice, assistance and representation in both civil and criminal matters.
  • Improved enabling legislative and regulatory framework for legal empowerment and access to justice.
  • Enhanced integrity and transparency in the justice sector.
