Mr. Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General, traveled for ten days on an Asian tour, visiting Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, concluding the trip in China. On Sunday, the Secretary-General visited and spoke at the Shanghai Expo, which he said had helped Shanghai secure its reputation as one of the world's most cosmopolitan cities. He also spoke to students at Nanjing University after receiving an honorary doctorate degree for his contribution to international cooperation and world peace.
During his visit to Beijing, the Secretary-General met with Chinese President, Hu Jintao, to discuss a range of important issues. The morning before he left China, the Secretary-General spoke at the Central Policy School, where many of China's future leaders are educated. He discussed his visit to the county, saying that China is clearly on the rise, and that he believes this rise is beneficial to the world. For with China's rise, he noted, comes great expectations and great responsibilities.
