Türkiye maintains its partnership with UNDP to advance Sustainable Development

Türkiye's core contribution enables UNDP to deliver development solutions where they are most needed, including in crisis and fragile settings
New York – The Government of Türkiye has reaffirmed its strong partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through its continued contribution of USD 1.2 million annually to UNDP’s core (regular) resources within the framework of its 2025–2027 multi-year commitment.
This sustained support, including the early payment of the 2026 core contribution, comes at a time when flexible funding is critical to addressing increasingly complex global challenges. As a regional leader and an active global development partner, Türkiye continues to play a growing role in shaping development efforts – from advancing climate and environmental agendas to supporting humanitarian action and recovery in crisis-affected contexts.
As one of UNDP’s key new strategic partners, Türkiye's core contribution enables UNDP to deliver development solutions where they are most needed, including in crisis and fragile settings. This flexible funding supports UNDP’s work across priority areas such as climate action, resilience-building, sustainable economic development, and inclusive governance, while also contributing to regional and global initiatives.
Türkiye complements its core support through additional flexible contributions to UNDP’s Regional Programme for Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), with USD 1.8 million annually, as well as its continued support to the Istanbul Regional Hub and the Istanbul International Centre for Private Sector in Development. Together, these contributions reinforce Türkiye's role in advancing regional and global cooperation, innovation, and private sector engagement in sustainable development.
Core contributions also play a crucial role in strengthening UNDP’s oversight and accountability functions. They ensure that programmes are delivered effectively, efficiently, and transparently. UNDP is consistently ranked among the most transparent international organisations.
UNDP will continue to work closely with Türkiye, building on decades-long partnership and shared commitment to advancing sustainable development and strengthening multilateral solutions at regional and global levels. UNDP also looks forward to continuing its cooperation on Türkiye’s COP31 Presidency to advance climate action, as well as supporting its leadership on zero waste and the circular economy globally.
