Co-organized with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, the commemorative event reflected on shared achievements and discussed a joint vision for a strengthened partnership in the future.
Since 1976, UNDP has supported Mongolia’s development journey across key areas, including strengthening national institutions, advancing democratic governance, promoting environmental sustainability, and supporting digital transformation and inclusive growth. The event highlighted the breadth of the UNDP–Mongolia partnership and its contribution to the country’s development trajectory.
Mr. Sandag-Ochir Tsend, Minister of Environment and Climate Change noted: “For over 50 years, this partnership has helped shape Mongolia’s path toward democratic governance, institutional strengthening, and inclusive growth, building national capacity and advancing the policies that drive long-term progress.”
Participants also engaged in a forward-looking dialogue under the theme “UNDP of the Future,” which featured diverse voices from across Mongolian society, including ministers, Members of Parliament, youth, herders, and civil society, reflecting on priorities and expectations for the next phase of the partnership.
The event unveiled the “50 Years of UNDP in Mongolia: Shared Impact. Shaping the Future Together.” commemorative book, which highlights key milestones and the evolution of the partnership. Guests received the book and gratitude cards printed on recycled cow dung paper, along with Mongolian felt notebook cases and tote bags produced by the Rehabilitation and Vocational Training Centre for people with disabilities, underscoring UNDP’s values of sustainability, inclusive livelihoods, and local innovation.

As we look ahead, this next chapter of the UNDP–Mongolia partnership will be defined by that shared ambition and co-creation.”
Marking the anniversary, UNDP reaffirmed its role as a trusted partner, committed to supporting Mongolia in addressing emerging development challenges by scaling proven solutions, strengthening resilience, and advancing sustainable financing and innovation.
