Osh / May 26, 2021 – The opening ceremony of the Municipal Youth Center took place in Nurdor village of Nariman Ayil Aimak, Kara-Suu district.
The youth of the village, deputies of newly elected Aiyl Kenesh, head of Aiyl Okmotu, representatives of Kara-Suu town Administration, Office of Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of Kyrgyz Republic in Osh oblast, Ministry of Culture, Information, Sport and Youth Policy of Kyrgyz Republic, mass media and UNDP took part in the ceremony.
The main purpose of the municipal youth center is to increase participation of young people in the implementation of state youth policy, socio-economic programs and decision-making processes at the local level, support youth initiatives, as well as the provision of services for the moral, intellectual and creative development of young people.
The activity of the youth center is organized on the basis of the regulations approved by the deputies of the Aiyl Aimak and approved by order of the Aiyl Okmotu. The center is one of 10 centers in the country established as a result of close cooperation between the State Agency for Youth, Physical Education and Sports, the relevant pilot municipalities and the UNDP.
A young artisans fair was also held at the opening.
"The committee of the municipal youth center has developed a program that meets the socio-economic needs and requirements of local youth. Based on this, with the support of local deputies 512,000 soms were allocated from the local budget to repair the gym and 71,000 soms to purchase furniture for the youth center." - said the head of Nariman Ayil Okmotu, Khosilov Nodir.
"The creation of youth centers is one of the priorities of youth policy of the Kyrgyz Republic. We hope that the open youth centers will work more closely with young people and support sustainable and peaceful development at the local level," said Joldoshev Astanbek, head of the Osh Department of the State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports.
Young people can also play sports for a healthy lifestyle.
"The favorable conditions and opportunities created in the youth center will help young people to use their potential and initiatives to develop their villages and create new jobs. Under the project, UNDP provided more than 1 million soms for repair, furniture and equipment of the municipal youth center in Nariman Ayil Aimak. To support intellectual and creative development of students on a competitive basis through training of young people of Sulaimanov school, 2 projects amounting to 230,700 soms and 1 project of a young entrepreneur to the amount of 70,000 soms were implemented." - said Tairov Sharabidin, regional representative of the project.
The youth centers were established as part of the regional UNDP project "Strengthening community resilience and regional cooperation to prevent violent extremism in Central Asia" funded by the Government of Japan.
