May 11, 2023

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo together with the operational unit of Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) in Kosovo and partner municipalities Prizren and Suharekë/Suva Reka marked the progress achieved through the "Strengthening Local Climate Action” (SLCA) project.

The event, held at the Innovation and Training Park (ITP) in Prizren, gathered a number of international and Kosovo stakeholders, partners, representatives of other municipalities, and beneficiaries, among them keynote speakers Maria Suokko, UNDP Resident Representative, Arsim Aziri, Programme Manager, ADC Kosovo, Shaqir Totaj, Mayor of Prizren municipality, and Bali Muharremaj, the Mayor of Suharekë/Suva Reka municipality.

The event offered a unique and comprehensive experience by presenting the results, research, reports, and municipal plans developed with the support of the SLCA project.

Several publications were launched to promote sustainable development in the partner municipalities, including climate change studies and intervention plans, as well as reports on GHG inventories and sustainable food systems. These aim to support a greener and more sustainable development in the municipalities.

The event also offered a platform for an interactive discussion, opportunities to network, and ideas on how to lay a foundation for support of the strategic planning and development at the central level and scaling implementation opportunities to other municipalities.
