On 14 January, UNDP jointly with the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan, Asian Development Bank, the Economic Research Institute and the Committee on Statistics conducted the first expert meeting in Nur-Sultan to discuss the results of 2019 on the SDGs implementation in Kazakhstan. The meeting was attended by the representatives of NGOs, expert communities, government agencies and international organizations.

The UNDP Resident Representative Mr. Yakup Beris noted that for the successful implementation of the Agenda 2030 and SDGs achievement, it is crucial to include SDG targets and indicators into national strategies and plans.

In 2019, a solid foundation for the local SDG platform was created through 17 workshops organized across the regions. The results show that good health, quality education and decent work and economic growth are the most important SDGs for Kazakhstani citizens.

In 2020, it is planned to offer expertise on SDG finance and metrics and promote local engagement through inclusion of SDGs in the territorial development plans.

The SDG Platform has been actively engaging various stakeholders in 17 regions of Kazakhstan, including the representatives of government structures, civil society, UN agencies and international organizations.
