Project

Strengthening the Climate Adaptation Capacities in Georgia

Summary

Georgia is committed to the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk ReductionSustainable Development Goals and Paris Agreement on Climate Change since signing the documents in 2015. The country developed its National Strategy on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) 2017-2020  to increase the efficiency of its response to possible threats.

UNDP, with support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), assisted the Government of Georgia in enhancing hazard mapping and applying disaster damage and loss assessment methodologies. The initiative provided essential baseline data on existing DRR and management practices, laying the groundwork for a more functional and responsive disaster risk reduction system.
